Hemitheconyx Caudicinctus (Gecko)

African Fat Tail Gecko

Walkabout Reptiles are working with some very new and rare African Fat Tail morphs. Fat Tails are a great little gecko growing to an average size of just 8 inches. Due to their size and docile nature these guys appeal to everyone from children looking for their first pet reptile to breeders looking to purchase investment morphs.
Fat Tails are sure to rival Leopard Geckos in terms of popularity and with every new, exciting morph their appeal sky rockets.

Normal Fat Tail

Fat Tailed geckos are popular pets due to their placid nature and the fact that they are relatively easy to keep. Normal Fat Tails have a banding pattern of alternate dark and light brown, or sometimes orange, bands.
We have several groups of normal Fat Tails, some of which are used to produce normal offspring to sell. The other groups are used to breed with our colour morphs in order to ensure our blood lines remain strong, producing healthy happy geckos.

Patternless Fat Tail

We are currently working with three different blood lines of captive bred Patternless Fat Tails which helps to keep our stock very strong and blood lines varied. An exciting morph with tremendous potential, the great thing about the Patternless is that you never know which shades are going to hatch as they range in colour from dark brown to a very light almost tan colour.
The Patternless morph has proved to be a simple recessive trait. The potential for this amazing morph are truly endless.

Albino

This fom of Fat Tail Albino (T Negative Albino) is also referred to as Amelanistic. Our groups consist of visual and het tangerine phased Geckos remarkable due to their intense colour . We will also be out-breeding some of our Albinos in order to increase blood lines further and to create the new morphs of the future.
Whether you are a breeder or collector, this is an ideal starting point for your Fat Tail morph collection. We are very pleased to be able to offer these amazing Albinos.

Caramel Albino

We have a small group of Caramel Albino Fat Tails. These are a new line of Albino Fat Tail which was proven by breeding the Caramel to the currently available Albino. By breeding these two strains together the results are normal looking offspring, proving that the two Albino genes are incompatible.
One of the best qualities of the Caramel Albino is that their colour intensifies as they mature unlike the normal Albino.

Ghost

At first sight these Geckos look as if they are about to shed but this is not the case. The Ghost Fat Tails are actually showing hypomelanism (a lack of melanin), a proven recessive trait which gives the animal a pre-shed appearance.
We are very excited to be working with the Ghost Fat Tails as we plan to use them to create the much anticipated Snow Fat Tail.

White Out

White Outs are a co-dominant trait and were produced by a large Gecko breeder in the States. We have been lucky enough to acquire two females this year and plan to extend the group next season. This new Fat Tail morph will enhance any collection and will inevitably enhance the profile and popularity of Fat Tailed Geckos.
White Outs are already showing great potential when used as a combo morph and we believe this will continue when mixed with other Fat Tailed morphs.

Aberrant

We are currently working with a pair of Aberrant Fat Tails which have a random pattern variation unlike the common banding of normals. Our female is of wild origin, and the male captive bred. We are expecting some very interesting combinations when these are bred into our other morphs.

Axanthic

These are probably the rarest morph available to date and we have been extremely fortunate to have acquired a small group to work with. When these Fat Tails first hatch there is something intensely striking about them - they are pure black and white! As the Axanthic matures its colours come to resemble those of an Oreo cookie.
Axanthic, meaning the lack of red and yellow pigment, is the name given to this proven recessive morph. The morph does not exhibit the same brown and yellow colouration seen in a normal Fat-Tailed Gecko. We are extremely lucky to be working with a group of visual and het animals of this very new and rare Fat Tail. With yet another new morph the possibilities are endless.
